Windswept

Windswept Brewery have been brewing since 2012 in Lossiemouth, Scotland. The brewery was created by two Royal Air Force pilots, who created the name Windswept to reflect the windswept beaches along moray coast and capture the sense of adventure that there is found there in the Scottish Highlands.

Description

This IPA from windswept is a fruity brew with a tropical hit. This Indian Pale Ale is

powerful and distinct with a complex character. The lager is bottle conditioned

First Impressions - Nose and Appearance

Hurricane's appearance is cloudy, due to the wheat that is used in the brewing process. This hazy beer is gold in colour with a hint of orange, topped with a creamy head. This tropical gold comes across in the aroma, with tones of mango, pineapple, passion-fruit and tangerine really coming across.

Taste:

This is IPA hits you straight away with a tropical punch with mango and passionfruit really coming through. There are also hints of pineapple and orange, with bitterness quite prominent in this one which comes from the admiral, citra and amarillo hops used in it. Aswell as the pale malt used in this IPA uses wheat which adds to its already citrusy tones. All in all the flavour is quite strong and doesnt leave you looking for the flavours, with a lingering bitterness present afterwards. With the citrus included would go well with a summers day.

Body:

This beer has a bit of body about it, which isn't surprising giving the wheat used to brew it. There is too a creamy texture to it, yet a dry finish. There is little no carbonation to this however it does retain its creamy head. It is relatively thin however despite being silky, leaving a dryness afterwards

Overall

SCORE: 3.5/5

Overall I thought this beer was fruity and a citrusy bite and a hoppy bitterness throughout. Good tropical flavours to go with a seafood BBQ or just a summers day!
