Loch Ness Brewery

Loch Ness Brewery was creates a variety of different brews for all tastes, originally brewing across from Loch Ness itself. Now they are in partnership with Cairngorm brewery and The Cobbs Group and produce some brilliant stuff.

Description

This session pale ale is laced with flavours of citrus fruits, using a variety of hops to do this as well as add a bitterness throughout. At 3.8% this fruity session pale ale isn't too strong but packs plenty punch.

First Impressions - Nose and Appearance

Firstly the appearance of this one is golden in colour with a straw tone to it. There is a slight cloud to this pale ale and not much head to it but some carbonation. There is also a suggestion of citrus from its orangy glow. This is representative of the aroma, which is citrusy and sweet. There is also a scent of apple coming from this, which gives it a freshness.

Taste

Immediately you would say this beer is strong on the hops which gives it quite a punchy bitterness to this one. The galaxy, colombus and citra hops are very prominent in this, giving it a wonderful citrusy flavour running through it but also leaving a tangerine, zesty bitterness in the aftertaste.

Body

This beer isn't to too thin but still has a light body feel to it, matching its description as a session pale ale. There is some carbonation but not too much, and the head doesn't hang around for long.

Overall

SCORE: 3/5

Overall, this session pale ale is full of citrusy flavour and hangs around in the mouth with a lasting finish. Personally for me, with it being quite punchy, I wouldn't class it as my preferred session beer as I wouldn't necessarily have a lot of it but that's just purely personal taste. A great beer!
